Met Police Officer charged with assaulting 14-year-old

A police officer has been placed on restricted duties following an alleged “altercation” back in April which happened in Essex.

Police Constable Paul Bewsey from the Met Police’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Projection Command (PaDPs) is due to appear before Basildon Magistrates court on Thursday.

He has been charged with an alleged offence of common assault on a teenager in Brentwood, Essex.

The Met said the charge related to an “altercation” on 21 April in Hanging Hill Lane.

Bewsey, who was charged by postal requisition on 21 October, is on restricted duties.

The PaDPs provides officers for the Houses of Parliament and is tasked with protecting government ministers and providing advice on threat levels.
