Man jailed after biting off a hamster’s head.
Jamie Straugher, Of Victoria Road in Darlington has pleaded guilty of one count if causing suffering to a projected animal on Christmas Eve.
He was also charged with failing to surrender and failing to appear at court.
Straugher who is aged 20 has appeared before Newton Aycliffe magistrates on Wednesday, admitted all of the offences and was jailed for 26 weeks.
Straugher was also given a ten-year disqualification order and is banned from owning, keeping, dealing or transporting animals.
He was also ordered to pay a court surcharge £154.
