Cleveland Police have arrested a man following a fire on Church Street, Hartlepool.

Officers launched an investigation into the suspected arson attack .

Hartlepool police moved quick to arrest a 38-year-old man following the fire within a block of flats on Church Street on Saturday.

Facebook Page Hartlepool News & Alerts released an image from the scene.

Emergency services responded to the flat fire, with paramedics attending to treat one person at the scene and police closing the road for a number of hours.

Thankfully Cleveland Police have confirmed that no one was injured as a result of the incident.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Officers were made aware of a fire at a property on Church Street, Hartlepool, around 10.45am this morning, Saturday July 23. The fire is being investigated as arson.

“No one was injured as a result of the incident. A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and he remains in police custody.”

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed they received a call at 10.48am following reports of a fire within flats.

Three Hazardous Area Response Teams, Two managers & an emergency ambulance descended to the scene.
