Derby Police Station: Man dies in hospital after being shot by officers in police station car park

Derby Police responded to a man armed in a knifeman within the police station car park.

A man has died after armed officers shot him in the car park of the Derby Police Station armed with a knife.

Police became aware of the man in the car park of Ascot Drive police station, in Derby at 9.55am on Friday morning.

Armed officers immediately deployed to the scene and shot the man at 10.03am.

Officers administered first aide until paramedics arrived, he was taken to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police have confirmed no-one else was injured during the incident and officers are now working to identify the man and contact his next of kin.

Derbyshire Constabulary’s Professional Standards Department has informed the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
