Prisoner serving life sentence for murder arrested after he absconded from an Open Prison

Police have arrested a prisoner after he absconded from Hollesley Bay Prison.

37-year-old Christopher Mortimer was found to be missing from the prison around 08.00hrs, Saturday 05 February.

Initial enquiries have failed to locate Mortimer, who is serving a Life sentence for Murder.

He was located, arrested & returned to prison on Sunday evening.

Despite being a convicted killer a parole board have chosen to place him in a Category D open Prison.

He is described as white, 174cm tall, slim build, balding. He has tattoos of Chinese symbols on his upper back and across his shoulders.

Mortimer has connections to the Manchester area.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen him or anyone with information about where he is to contact police on 101.

You should not approach him or take any further action.
