Three police officers shot dead in central France

Three police officers have been shot dead and a fourth wounded in central France.

French news channel BFMTV is reporting that the team had been responding to a domestic violence incident at a house near Puy-de-Dome.

When the officers arrived the attacker opened fire.

Town Mayor Francois Chautard said the officers were shot by a male suspect on arrival.

The incident is still under way but a woman who was inside the home is said to be safe.
