Zephaniah McLeod has tonight been charged with the murder of Jacob Billington – one of eight people stabbed in Birmingham in the early hours of Sunday.
McLeod aged 27 from from Nately Grove, Selly Oak in Birmingham also faces attempted murder charges relating to seven other victims.
Sadly Jacob who is aged 23 was out drinking with school friends from Liverpool, visiting one of their who is studying in Birmingham.
Jacob was fatally stabbed in the neck.
A spokesperson for Sheffield Hallam University said:
“Jacob was a Sheffield Hallam graduate and had joined the library as a graduate intern, where his warmth and enthusiasm made him a greatly valued member of our team.”
“Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time. We are providing support to those in our community who have been affected by this tragic incident.”
Three others remain in hospital following the attack within the city centre including a member of Jacob’s group Michael Callagham who currently remains in a critical condition.
Another a 22-year-old woman who was attacked remains in a critical but stable condition and a man aged 30 is in a serious condition.
The four other victims have been discharged following treatment.
