A large number of police officers responded to an ongoing incident within Church Square in Hartlepool.
Police received reports of an ongoing fight involving a large group of people.
Upon arrival, the police managed to control the incident very quickly and professionally.
As officers left the scene they became aware of a person who had been left injured following another incident within Chruch Square.
Officers trying to administer first aid to the injured person who was laid on the floor then became the target of the violent behaviour and made a number of arrests.
A crime scene was quickly put in place and the area cleared.
While officers continued to administer first aid while they waited for an ambulance to attend the scene.
The incident comes as Late-night drinkers across the UK are enjoying one last Saturday night before the new law comes into place meaning only up to six people from two households can meet inside their house or outside.
Cleveland Police have not yet released any details relating to the incident.
