Coronavirus: Social gatherings of more than six people to be banned from Monday

A ban on groups of people of more than six people gathering in homes, pubs, parks and restaurants will come in to force on Monday.

The new restrictions will be imposed by Boris Johnson in the biggest coronavirus crackdown since the lockdown was eased.

Anyone who is caught gathering in groups of more than six will be fined £100 which will be doubled for each breach up to a max of £3,200.

The new crack down comes after members of the public have ignored government advice to keep social distancing.
