A man has spat at Police officers in Hartlepool in the hope he infected them with Covid-19 after being caught breaking into the Royal Pub during Coronavirus lockdown
The Hartlepool man spat at a police officer to infect him with Coronavirus after response officers from Hartlepool Police Station within the Cleveland Police force area responded to reports of a burglary when they detained a 26-year-old man with four offences.
These include allegedly spitting at a police officer within the incident in Church Street Hartlepool.
The man who has not been named has been charged with four offences they are criminal damage, one count of actual bodily harm against an emergency worker, common assault of an emergency worker and burglary.
Police were called to an ongoing burglary within The Royal Pub in Hartlepool on Tuesday night.
Police also thanked the landlord of the pub who had detained the man until police arrived and supported officers with the arrest.
during the incident he made threats to a police officer and began spitting to ‘infect the officer with coronavirus” and then committed criminal damage to a police van.
The man will face Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
