UK Supermarket chain Tesco has announced radical plans to take on German rival Aldi but price matching hundreds of Aldi Prices.
The unexpected news was announced today which is hoped will win customers back from a slump in customers over the years.
The new price matching policy will mean that Tesco’s own brand products will be available at the same price as at Aldi.
Tesco has released a statement which states “customers are getting competitive prices on these products at Tesco and saving themselves a trip”
“Prices of the products included will be checked to give customers peace of mind, offering Tesco products at Aldi prices for simple, great value,”
All products which have been price matched will be marked with a red Aldi Price Match sticker and products within the price match will also be available online.
“Our customers tell us they want the most competitive prices on the things they buy regularly. This new campaign will help time-poor and budget savvy customers get Tesco products at Aldi prices on products that matter to them,” said chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini.
Tesco announced they have also been sending in researchers to Aldi twice a week to check out what products the competition have on offer the prices they are selling things at in England, Scotland and Wales.
