Members of the public are now being challenged by the police who are asking if their travel is necessary.
If you are “driving” with the reason being to walk your dog, go for a walk, run or cycle this is classed as an unnecessary travel and you could face a £30 fine.
You are allowed to do these things but they must be done from your home address.
Here is a heads up.— Police Hour (@PoliceHour) March 25, 2020
New rules mean you should be carrying out your exercise from Home.
Driving to a location to walk, run or cycle is classed as unnecessary travel.
Law is now in place to issue £30 fines…
This is because the government has told us we must not carry out unnecessary travel.
It’s simply because all of these activities can be done from your home address.
You should only use a car to travel to work, to get food, to get medication, helping a vulnerable person or for medical attention.
Police officers all over the UK have been stopping drivers and commuters to ask them if their travel is necessary.
We are sure we will see more and more of this activity happening over the next few days and weeks.
