Coronavirus Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose enforce rules to stop panic buying

Sainsbury’s have announced they will restrict purchases on all grocery products and will close all cafes and fresh counters as the supermarket’s combat panic buying.

All customers will face a cap of a maximum of three of any grocery product.

and a cap of two items per customer will be placed on items such as toilet roll, soap and UHT Milk.

Tesco has announced that they are suspending all-night opening and Waitrose are drafting in hundreds of extra staff to cope with the demand.

Morrisons reported that it had seen a “considerable” degree of stockpiling and urged customers to “just buy what we need”.
