12 new cases coronavirus cases have been confirmed in England it has been confirmed.

All of the 12 people who have been confirmed to have COVID-19 are all known to be close to a case within the UK.

They have all contracted the virus within the UK and were identified as part of a contact tracing process.

One of those lives in Essex and has no relevant travel it is not yet clear if they contracted it directly or indirectly from an individual who contracted it while abroad.

Of the remaining eight cases six had recently travelled from Italy and two from Iran.

The patients had recently travelled from London, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Hertfordshire & Gloucestershire.

All cases are currently being traced and investigated with contract tracing being launched.

The total number of cases now confirmed within the UK is 35.
