At 8pm on Thursday, people are being urged to salute NHS workers on the frontline treating coronavirus patients with a round of applause from their balconies, windows and front gardens. #clapforourcarers

The Police Federation Chair said that it was a bit emotional.

The Clap For Carers campaign, which started online, is being staged because ‘during these unprecedented times they need to know we are grateful’, organisers said.

The UK will unite in unity tonight to show support for our NHS.

This is an opportunity for the UK to show some support to those facing a tough time on the front line.

It is incredible to see the UK pull together, We are great people.
