Armed Police called to major incident in Hartlepool after tens of thousands of pounds of drugs seized

Armed police were called to the scene of a major incident in Hartlepool.

Four people were arrested and an armed standoff followed with armed officers evacuating a number of houses and searching inside the properties.

The dog unit was also on hand to assist in the search.

The major incident was declared after four people were arrested and held at the scene until the incident was over.

People in the area are reporting a large number of police vehicles in the Hutton Avenue and St Paul’s Road area.

Armed police are at the scene and an ambulance remained on standby.

A large crowd gathered at the scene and speculation as to what was happening spread amongst onlookers who feared it was a hostage situation.

Cleveland Police have told Police Hour that armed police are on the scene of an incident after a cannabis farm with 300 plants was found during a raid on two properties on Hutton Avenue and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs.

Three men and a woman have been arrested and there will be a police presence at the properties for some time.

Armed Police left the scene at 11pm having searched both of the houses.

It is believed they were looking for further suspects in relation to the drugs raid.

Police have confirmed that they will remain on scene at both properties this evening while they carry out searches
