A baby age three weeks old is has been attacked by a dog Police Scotland have confirmed investigations in the Scottish borders town are ongoing.

A baby boy is fighting for his life after being mauled in a horrific dog attack.

The youngster, just three weeks old, is in a critical condition in hospital after the mauling in Hawick in the Scottish borders.

Police officers remain at the scene and a spokesman said that enquiries were ongoing.

Officers were called to an address in the town at 4.45pm today.

Police Scotland have made no arrests in relation to the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The emergency services were called to an address in Hawick following the report of a baby having been attacked by a dog.

“A baby boy has been taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

“Officers remain in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.”
