Connor Brown sadly never returned from a night out with his friends in Sunderland City Centre when he was stabbed,
Officers have now launched a murder investigation and charged one with murder.
Connor was a popular local lad who was well liked, He loved his football team Sunderland and his boxing.
His family, friends and colleagues have flooded social media with tributes to the popular teenager, they also arranged flowers and balloons which have been left on a bench close to the scene on Park Lane.
Police have charged a man with murder following a fatal assault in Sunderland city centre over the weekend.
In the early hours of Sunday (February 24), officers received a report that a man had been injured behind The Borough Pub, in Sunderland.
Connor Brown, 18, was found with life-threatening injuries consistent with those of a stabbing. Sadly, he passed away shortly after.
Police have now charged Leighton Barrass, 20, of Hartside Square, Sunderland, with murder. He is due to appear before magistrates in South Tyneside tomorrow (Tuesday).
A 19-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody and continues to assist officers with their enquiries.
Officers are still keen to hear from any witnesses to the incident, and have asked anybody with information to get in touch.
