Two people have been arrested on suspicion of driving and drug driving offences.
Thankfully no one was seriously hurt following the incident in Hartlepool despite the carnage left behind.
Police had been chasing the car moments later it smashes into an innocent driver, one of the cars then smashes into a telephone box.
The image of both vehicles are too graphic to show luckily everyone has walked away from this incident without any serious injuries.
Police and paramedics remained on the scene for a number or hours along with collision investigation officers.
The incident happened just before 6pm sparking a large emergency response. Two police vehicles are parked with hazard lights on while all others have blue-lights illuminated.
An hour after the incident a fourth Ambulance arrived at the scene on blue lights.
A crime scene is now in place and officers are expected to remain the the scene for a number or hours.
Eyewitnesses have told Police Hour that police has been chasing a vehicle before it smashed into a lamppost.
We have contacted Cleveland Police have released a statement to Police Hour ” Two men were arrested on suspicion of driving and drug offences following a collision involving two vehicles in Elwick Road, Hartlepool.
“The incident happened at around 5.30pm on January 2.
“An 18-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were arrested and remain in custody. The ambulance service attended the scene but there were no serious injuries.”
Both Elwick Road and Belmont Gardens was closed for a number of hours to enable police to investigate the incident.
