Sick child rapist dies seven month into 17 year sentence

A Sick child rapist has died seven months after being sentenced to 17-year in prison, he attempted to plead that he was too unwell to attend court and then that he could not face prison because of his medical conditions.

Now he is dead, the sick child rapist Reginald James Wood was jailed in January after he was labelled “sick and depraved” by a judge for the crimes h committed against three girls.

He was pronounced dead on the healthcare wing of HMP Durham on August 25th.

Wood sexual crimes against children happened over two decades and were committed within Redcar and Essex while he was a Lorry driver.

During his court case, Wood lacked any emotion or remorse towards his victims and argued he should not face jail because of his age and medical conditions.

He showed no emotion as one of his victims stood bravely and recalled being raped when she was a child the devasting impact this still has on her today.

“I will never forget what he has done to me. It has not only affected my life but my children’s life. I don’t allow them to do normal things other children do.

“I suffer from PTSD. That would not be there if I had not been abused as a child. I have flashbacks. I will never forgive him.

“He is sick and depraved.”

A Prison Service spokeswoman said: “Reginald Wood died at HMP Durham on 25 August 2018.

“As with all deaths in custody, there will be an independent investigation by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.”

Wood had pleaded guilty to 23 different charges – including five rape charges, and numerous indecent and sexual assault counts – on the second day of a crown court trial in October.
