Police in Barnsley have asked members of the public to remain vigilant as they respond to a serious incident in the town centre.

Barnsley Town centre is currently on lockdown following an ongoing serious incident.

Shops have been told they must lock there doors.

Unconfirmed social media reports have suggested that a person was roaming the streets with a knife has stabbed.

South Yorkshire Police have now released a statement confirming a one person has been arrested after one person was stabbed.

They confirmed they only have reports of one person being stabbed
