Manhunt launched after woman stabbed to death in targeted attack

A woman in her 20s has been murdered in cold blood in a targeted attack in Hartlepool.

The woman who we have chosen not to name was targeted and stabbed to death, the killer is known to his victim.

Cleveland Police have now launched a man hunt after the young woman was stabbed and suffered “significant injuries” after the attack last night at around 9pm.

A cordon remains in place where the woman who was walking with a female friend at the time of the attack.

Cleveland Police said: “Detectives have now declared a murder investigation after a woman suffered significant injuries and died in Hartlepool.

“The incident happened on Oxford Road just after 9pm on Friday August 3.

The victim, an adult female, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“Inquiries carried out so far have led detectives to believe that this was a targeted attack and a team of officers are working tirelessly to trace the person believed to be responsible.”

Local shop owners have said they rushed out of their businesses to the sound of screaming and quickly alerted the police.

A young girl was laid on the floor she had just been stabbed. We now know this to be a young adult woman.

A large group of youths could be seen shortly before police arrived.

A crime scene is currently in place on Oxford Road Hartlepool.
