Young girl swept out to sea in Kent

A young girl has been swept out to sea off the Kent Coast as she enjoyed the hottest day of the year.

She went into the water before 1.30pm and was quickly pulled from the water near Marine Parade Sheerness.

She has been rushed to hospital, Officers attended the scene together with crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.

The injured child is now being taken to a London Hospital for treatment.

Coastguards and paramedics also attended the scene and an air ambulance was seen above the coast.
