Armed officers deployed to Holborn Underground and arrested a man who was in possession of two knifes.

Holborn station was temporarily closed while police dealt with the incident that is not believed to be terror related.

A suspicious item was assessed by “specialist teams” but did not pose a threat.

Armed officers arrested a man aged 33 “on suspicion of possession of a bladed weapon and has been taken to police custody as enquiries continue”.

Police had been called shortly after 4pm over reports of a man “in possession of a knife on board a Central Line train”.

Firearms officers were among those sent to the station
