Man charged with malicious wounding following incident at Morrisons supermarket

A man has been charged with malicious wounding, possession of an offensive weapon and theft after an incident in a Lowestoft supermarket.

The incident took place at Morrisons, on North Quay Retail Park on Sunday 22 April at around 1.35pm.

Police received reports that a male member of staff had been stabbed by a man with a syringe, after the worker had attempted to stop the man.

Officers were immediately despatched and detained a 34-year-old man nearby.

The victim sustained a cut to his hand which required hospital treatment.

Bozlu Miah, of Bramble Green, Lowestoft has been charged with unlawful and malicious wounding and possession of an offensive weapon (syringe) in a public place.

He has also been charged with the theft of five bottles of alcohol.

Miah has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Norwich Crown Court on 22 May 2018.
