Greater Manchester Police find body of a baby in a field, A member of public made the discovery and alerted police.

The horrific discovery was made in Heywood, Greater Manchester by officers at 7.10am.

A crime scene is currently in place near George Street, and forensic experts are examining the scene.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that police officers responded to reports of a baby body saying “At around 7.10am on Wednesday April 4th 2018, police were called to a field near George Street in Heywood, to reports that the body of a baby had been found.

“Officers attended and discovered the body of what is believed to be a newborn baby.

“A scene is in place while police inquiries continue.”

Police dogs have been searching the area of woodland near to the Roch Valley woods while forensic officers are examining the scene and the surrounding areas.
