Standsted Airport is being evacuated after a fire in front of the terminal

Standsted Airport is being evacuated after a fire in front of the terminal, Passengers in the main terminal have been asked to leave the airport after a fire on a car park shuttle bus broke out right infront of the terminal.

The Airport’s official Twitter account released a tweet saying “Due to a fire on the car park shuttle bus, terminal forecourt and surrounded area including parts of the terminal building are being evacuated due to smoke. We are investigating this as a matter of urgency and will provide an update shortly.”

Huge plums of smoke could be seen in front of the airport, It’s not yet known what caused the fire or if anyone has been injured within the incident.

Ed Winfield released an image on Twitter showing the main entrance of the airport and a passenger walkway covered in thick black smoke.

 

Worried passengers waiting to depart the airport began to worry what was happening
