British Soldier has been killed in Syria by an improvised explosive device

A British Soldier who was with the anti-Isil coalition has been killed by an improvised explosive device in Syria.

It has also been confirmed an American was also killed within the incident which happened within northern Syrian city of Manbij, five others have been seriously hurt.

The incident came the same day that US President Donald Trump said he would pull out forces from Syria very soon.

“Two coalition personnel were killed and five were wounded by an improvised explosive device in Syria”

“at around midnight (2100 GMT), the coalition said in a statement which gave no further details about the victims.

Since 2014 the coalition has provided weapons, training and other support to forces fighting Islamic State group (Isil) jihadists in Syria and Iraq.

This latest incident brings the number of US personnel killed in action during the operation to 14.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

The United States have confirmed they will be withholding details surrounding the circumstances of the attack pending further investigation.
