Teesside child sex offender jailed for five years after retrial

Andrew Burton has been jailed for five years following a string of historic sex offences against children.

Andrew Burton was found guilty of eight charges of sexual assault following a retrial after a jury was unable to reach verdicts.

Burton of Whitfield Drive, Hartlepool appeared before Teesside Crown Court to face a second jury who heard that the child abuse happened more than 20-years-ago.

Burton was convicted in December and has today been sentenced to five years in prison by Judge James Spencer.

He also told the court that Burton must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
