While many major routes in towns and cities have also been covered leaving many roads difficult to navigate.
Gritting across many areas has failed as the snow has created air pockets allowing the snow to rest on top.
Snow began falling at 11pm last night and is expected to continue until 9am this morning.
A number of schools, colleges and Universities are expected to announce they could be closed for the day. Make sure you check ahead before traveling.
