Police have today charged a 20-year-old man with murder after a man was stabbed at a restaurant on Christmas Eve.

Mazhar Ali aged 41 from Stockton sadly died in hospital on Christmas Day following the horrific incident that unfolded inside the Manjaros restaurant on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough.

Cleveland Police confirm Efreeqi Mohamed Siddig aged 20 has been charged with murder and carry an offensive weapon.

The circumstances of why Efreeqi was within Manjaros are currently unknown.

He will appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Boxing Day.
