The officers were called to an incident at the Byker Community Centre within Newcastle following reports of problems with a group of males within the centre.
Officers arrived at the scene at 9pm on Saturday 28th October and staff within the centre decided the best action would be to ask the group to leave the centre with no further police action all they required was the assistance of the police to ensure the group left without further incident.
As soon as the officers began asking the group to leave the became aggressive towards the officers and physically attacked them both. One female officer was knocked to the ground leaving her unconscious while a second officer was also attacked.
This resulted in one female officer being knocked to the ground leaving her unconscious while a second officer was also attacked protecting the female officer who was laid on the ground.
