A man is currently in hospital suffering life-threatening injuries following a serious assault in Scarborough.

The incident happened in Durham Place at 10pm on Friday 15th September.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 53-year-old is currently being treated at Scarborough District Hospital.

Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for a key witness to come forward.

They’d like to speak to a man who is known to have walked along Durham Place and into North Marine Road while the incident was ongoing.

This man is not suspected of any offences, but could be a key witness.

Three local men, aged 31, 26 and 20, have been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

They are due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday 18, September.
