Police hunt Gang of Four masked men after Middlesbrough shooting

A man has been rushed to hospital following a ‘targeted attack’ in Middlesbrough. 

Officers responded to reports that a man had been shot in the leg by a Gang of Four masked men. 

It is believed the attackers arrived on Murdock Road in blue Volkswagen before getting out and attacking the man with baseball bars before he was shot. 

Police officers responded to an emergency call at 8.55am on Tuesday 4th July, the man aged in his 40s was rushed to James Cook University Hospital for treatment. 

Officers located a Blue Volkswagen on fire in woods close to Four Lane Ends near Saltburn.  

Detectives are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the attack or the blue Volkswagen Golf with distinctive silver wing mirrors in the vicinity of Murdock Road, or as it travelled to Four Lane Ends.

Anyone with dash cam footage of the vehicle is urged to get in touch.
Police are also appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area of Four Lane Ends, between the hours of 9am and 10am.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Young said: “We are in the very early stages of this inquiry, however, indications so far suggest that this was a targeted incident. There will be increased patrols in the area whilst the investigation continues and anyone with information is urged to contact police.”
