Newborn baby girl found abandoned police urgently looking for her mum

A newborn baby has been found abandoned in a bus shelter, police say the little girl was found at 7.15am on Tuesday morning.

Police want the mum to know her baby is safe and that she is currently being cared for and treated in hospital

Police are extremely concerned about the welfare of the mother and would appeal to her to come forward. If you are also concerned for a friend, relative or neighbour police would also like to hear from you.

Helen Douglas, of North Wales Police, said: “We are concerned about the health of the mother of the baby girl and are appealing for her to come forward by contacting me, Helen, on 07835 92378. Likewise if you are a concerned friend, relative or neighbour of the mother you can also contact me on the same number.

“Alternatively, if anyone knows who the mother is or can provide any information which may assist in identifying her please contact North Wales Police by calling 101, quoting reference number V103529. We want to ensure that the mother is provided with the medical support she needs.”

The baby was located in a bus stop outside the Magpie and Stump pub in Towyn, Conwy and has been taked to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd (hospital) for treatment.

Forensic officers are examining the scene to find clues that could lead them to the identification of the mum.
