Emergency services responded to the incident which is described as a ‘noxious substance’ inside The William Hedley pub.

Police, Fire and ambulance are on the scene and have evacuated the pub which is not expected to re-open this evening.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to call them on 101.

Durham Police have said “William Hedley pub on North Road evacuated due to noxious substance. Area is secure, any info call 101.”
Durham Police have now confirmed no one was injured during the incident.
