Boy 8 seriously hurt Sunderland collision 

An 8-year-old boy is fighting for his life following a collision on the A194 (M) in Sunderland. 

Police say the collision happened around 5.25pm on Saturday, July 1, between Washington Highway and the A1. 

Northumbria Police said “For reasons yet to be established a Red Suzuki Ignis collided with a tree.
“The driver and passenger – an 8 year old boy – were taken to hospital. 

“The boys injuries are serious and potentially life threatening.” 

The vehicle had travelled from the South Shields area before the collision. 

Officers are carrying out enquiries and appealing for witnesses.
