Serious Ongoing policing incident King Oswy Drive Hartlepool

A police officer was attacked by a man with a knife attending a routine policing incident at the King Oswy Drive Shops in Hartlepool.

Police sealed the area off for one hour while a forensic examination was carried out at the scene.

An eyewitness has told Police Hour that they heard shouting and screaming and then a lot of police units arrived and that a cop had been stabbed in front of horrified shoppers and children.

The incident happened at about 6.45pm outside of the RAI Stores. While the crime scene was in place the Paramedic unit remained on scene to treat the officer who did not require hospital treatment.

Cleveland Police confirmed they “were called to the Spar Store in King Oswy Drive at 6.45pm on Saturday night to reports that a man drinking a bottle of wine in the store was causing a disturbance.

“When police arrived the man produced a knife and cut an officers forearm. Police had to use a taser and the 36-year- old local man was arrested”

He remains in police custody.
