One-year-old murdered detectives urgently hunting Bidhya Sagar Das

Detectives have launched a manhunt after a one-year-old boy was murdered and another one-year-old is in hospital in a critical condition.

Police are treating the death as murder. If Bidhya Sagar Das is spotted the public are asked to call 999.

Detectives wish to trace a man sought in connection with an incident in which a boy died and a girl sustained critical injuries.

Police were called at around 23:10hrs on Saturday, 18 March, to two children injured at a flat in Wilberforce Road, N4.

Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service (LAS).

The boy and girl – both one-year-old – were taken by ambulance to an east London hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead at 00:48hrs. Next of kin are aware. Formal identification awaits and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

The girl remains in hospital in a critical condition.

A murder investigation has been launched, led by Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams of the Homicide and Major Crime Command.

Detectives are urgently trying to trace a man who was at the flat shortly before the injured children were found, but left before emergency services were called. The man has not been seen since this time.

He is Bidhya Sagar Das, 33, (31.12.83) of the address in Wilberforce Road where the injured children were found.

If any members of the public see this man or know his whereabouts, they are urged to contact police via 999 immediately.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8345 3775.

The incident is believed to be domestic. There has been no arrest at this stage and enquiries continue.
