Police pull body from Hartlepool Marina following extensive search

Drivers searching Hartlepool Marina have recovered a body. Officers had been combing the area underwater over the weekend after an urgent appeal was issued to find Andrew Roy who was staying in Hartlepool.

Officers sealed off areas around the Hartlepool marina at around 1pm today with Crime Scene Investigators arriving shortly after. Two officers stood guard near the Premier Inn Hotel and another stood on a pontoon close to where drivers had been searching.

Officers from the specialist police diving team had searched an area of Hartlepool Marina over the weekend during the search for Andrew Roy aged 51 from Cornwall.

Police confirmed he was reported missing after he failed to turn up for work on Friday 10th February.

Cleveland Police had been conducting a number of patrols around the marina and specialist officers searched the marina using boats and specialist equipment. A number of divers searched under the water. While the force’s helicopter searched from the air.

Whilst formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of Andrew Roy from Cornwall is aware and is being supported by officers.
