The Jury has been sent out in Norma Bell Murder case

The Jury has been officially sent out to consider the verdicts in the trial of Gareth Dack who is accused of murdering 79-year-old Norma Bell.

Her body was found in her burning house last April

The prosecution told the jury that Dack killed Mrs Bell with a cable, stole a boxed TV and £700, and set fire to the terraced house to destroy evidence.

It is claimed he repeatedly used  her phone to call sex chatlines as she lay dead or dying.

Dack has denied the murder and arson claiming that Norma Bell was what he describes as “a wonderful woman” that he has known since he was a little boy.

Justice Whipple told the jury: “Please take all the time you need in doing this important job.”

Norma Bell and her late husband John had in their lifetime look after more than 50 children.
