Police have charged a man in connection with an attack on an elderly woman in Newcastle.
On Wednesday, January 4, a man knocked at the door of an address in Netherby Drive and when the elderly occupant answered he forced his way inside the address.
He searched the property before fleeing with the victims purse. When leaving he was confronted by neighbours who heard a disturbance coming from the address and came to help.

Lee Scott Cockburn, 40, of Violet Close in Benwell has been charged with robbery and will appear at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 9.
