Heavy wind and snow have battered the North East’s roads this morning.
Drivers are reporting that they have been stuck on the A19 for over half an hour due to snow fall.
Reports A19 toward at Hartlepool is at a complete standstill due to snow on the carriageways. Not helped by the RTC at #Easington

Police are urging drivers to drive to the roads conditions.

Durham Police have confirmed a serious incident on the A19 which has closed northbound carriageway due to a four car crash.
The incident has occurred just past Pererlee.

Long delays are expected.
Durham Police have confirmed they are dealing with a number of reported RTCs due to the snow fall.
Officers are also on scene of a 1 vehicle RTC on the A1M Bowburn between J61 and J62.
