Serious incident Marina Way Hartlepool closed in both direction

Cleveland Police Road Policing unit closed Marina way in Hartlepool following a serious incident on Wednesday Night.

It is believed a pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights outside of Asda was hit by a car at the traffic lights.

The incident happened on A179 Marina Way Cleveland Police confirmed that there was a road closure in both directions between the A689 junction and the B1277 Middleton Road junction, because of an accident, the road is expected to be closed for some time.

The road remained closed for almost 4 hours while collision investigators examined the scene.

An eye witness who does not wish to be named told Police Hour that the scene was horrific, they just laid in the road for ages until the emergency services arrived with the traffic coming to a complete standstill.

They said “It was a complete shock, the person just came out on nowhere the poor driver was in shock as the pedestrian just laid on the road motionless. It seemed to take forever for the emergency services to arrive.

“Once the police got here they seemed to struggle to get through the traffic. Once the ambulance arrived the pedestrian was take away on blue light’s”.
