Brendan Dassey One of the subjects of the Netflix crime documentary Making A Murder will be released from prison today.

He has spent nine years in prison after he was convicted of the murder of Teresa Halbach, for which his uncle, Steven Avery, is still serving a life sentence.

Today a US judge has ordered he be immediately released from prison after his conviction was over turned in the summer. However prosecutors are appealing and if they have their way he will be sent straight back to jail.

Dassey who was 16 when he was sent to jail is aged 27-years-old and has learning difficulties was convicted of murdering a young woman long with his uncle Steven Avery.

Judge William Duffin ordered he be released under supervision until the next steps of the case become clear.

He will have to submit to the probation and parole office by midday on Tuesday at the address where he plans to live. He is banned from contacting the family of Ms Halbach or his co-defendant who’s legal team believe DNA evidence will clear his name.
