Police investigating the death of a County Durham man have identified him as 32-year-old Dale Arnold, of School Avenue, Durham.
Mr Arnold died following an altercation in Front Street, Kelloe, shortly before 2pm yesterday, August 3.
He died of stab wounds in the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, a short time after being taken there by ambulance.
A post mortem on Mr Arnold’s body is due to be carried out later today.
Police are continuing to search for a man believed to have been involved in an altercation with Mr Arnold in Front Street just before 2pm.
The man leading the investigation, Detective Superintendent Paul Goundry, said: “Mr Arnold has tragically lost his life in a County Durham village street in the middle of the afternoon.
“Our enquiries reveal that a man was involved in an altercation with him shortly before 2pm yesterday and we are keen to trace him.”
Enquires are continuing in Kelloe, Coxhoe and surrounding areas.
Det Supt Goundry added: “We do not believe the man we are looking for poses a risk to the wider community but would ask anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
