Two teenage boys have gone missing swimming off a beach. They have not been seen since getting into difficulty in the sea.

The boy were unable to return back to shore. They had been visiting Barmouth as part of a larger group of teenagers from Birmingham.

Barmouth’s RNLI lifeboat was launched at 1:40pm and the station’s all-weather lifeboat was launched ten minutes later.

Both boats, along with three Coastguard Rescue Teams and a Search and Rescue helicopter are now searching the area.

Another lifeboat from Aberdovey was also launched later in the afternoon, and is searching an area on the south side of the Barmouth estuary.
