17-year-old dies after ‘taking drugs’ at Leeds Festival

A 17-year-old has sadly died after allegedly taking Drugs at Leeds Festival, West Yorkshire Police has confirmed.

The boy is believed to be from the Greater Manchester area was rushed to hospital at 4.45pm on Saturday.

He underwent emergency medical treatment however he was sadly pronounced dead shortly after midnight.

 

Staff at Leeds Festival contacted police after he was rushed to St James Hospital in a critical condition.

Chief Superintendent Keith Gilert, Leeds Festival’s police commander confirmed that he had taken drugs and immediately collapsed “Police have arrested¬†two teenagers also aged 17 on suspicion of drugs offences, and are currently in custody.

“They were made aware of the incident by officers as soon as possible and were assisted to attend the hospital as quickly as possible. We will continue to support them through this difficult time.

“We are currently investigating the death and how he obtained the substance he took,”
