Amber Rudd has been officially announced as the new Home Secretary.

The former Energy Secretary was appointed the role my the new Prime Minister Theresa May.

The role in the Home Office is a big promotion for former banker Ms Rudd.

Ms Rudd will lead the fire service, police, security and immigration service during a crucial post-Brexit period.

The will become responsible for dealing with policing, security and immigration in the crucial post-Brexit period.

Theresa May left the home office as the Fire Service merged into the home office with plans for the Fire Service to be lead by Police and Crime Commissioners leaving Ms Rudd with a number of challenges ahead.

Downing Street confirmed that The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Amber Rudd MP as Secretary of State for the Home Department.”
