Cleveland Police have been authorised to charge a 32 year old man with murder.

Officers arrested the man earlier this week in connection with the murder of 79 year old Norma Bell.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court tomorrow (Saturday 9th April).

Norma Bell was murdered murder sometime between late evening on Saturday 2nd April and the morning of Sunday 3rd April at her home in Westbourne Road in Hartlepool.

Following the murder her house was set on fire. Police revealed hundreds of pounds in cash was taken from the house.

Police recently launched an appeal to find a missing TV which has now been recovered.

A detailed forensic investigation is still underway at the property and a police guard remains outside the house nearly one week after the murder.
